Description of Courses

Note: Maps will be given to every participant on the day of the event. Also, there will be an arrow at every intersection indicating the course direction.

Summary: Both courses leave the Mt. Mansfield Touring Center and ascend indirectly to the Trapp’s Cabin. The 15K takes a short loop on the Trapp’s trails and then returns to the Mt. Mansfield Touring Center. After the Cabin, the 25K descends indirectly to the Trapp’s Touring Center and then climbs up near the Trapp’s cabin and then descends to the Mt. Mansfield Touring Center.

Details: Both courses leave the Mt. Mansfield Touring Center and head out along Timberlane to the end where it intersects with the Bruce. Take a left on the Bruce and descend to the intersection of the Burt. From here, climb the Ranch Camp trail (connector) to the upper Old Camp trail. Take a right on the Old Camp Trail and take it to the end where it intersects with the Haul Road. Take a right on the Haul Road to the Trapp’s Cabin. From the Cabin, follow the Cabin trail down to the intersection of the Bobcat and Parizo’s. At this point, the 15K makes a left on Bobcat and the 25K makes a right on the downhill Parizo. See 15K and 25K below.

15K: Once on Bobcat, climb to Hareline. Take a left of Hareline and take it to the end where it intersects with Haul Road. Take a right on Haul Road and descend to the Ranch Camp Trail. Take a left of the Ranch Camp Trail and descend into the Ranch Valley. At the bottom, take a right on the Burt trail. Follow the Burt to Crosscut #2. Take a left on Crosscut #2 and ascend to Timberlane. Take a right on TimberLane and take it back to the Mt. Mansfield Touring Center.

25K: Take the Parizo down to County Road. Take a right on County Road. At the end of County Road, take a left on Russell Knoll. Take Russell Knoll to Deer Pond. Take a right on Deer Pond and loop down and then up to the Trapps Touring Center on the Deer Pond Trail. From the Trapp’s Touring Center, follow Fox Track to the end and take a right on Sugar Road. Take Sugar Road to Picnic Knoll and then take the Parizo trail up to County Road and up again to the intersection of Parizo and Bobcat. From here, take Bobcat and follow the 15K course directions.
