Description of Courses

(Directions in ALL CAPS below indicates a recent change in the course)

Note: Maps will be given to every participant on the day of the event. Also, there will be an arrow at most intersections indicating the course direction.

Summary: Both courses leave the Stowe Mtn. Resort XC Center and ascend to the Trapp’s Cabin. The 15K takes a short loop on the Trapp’s trails and then returns to the Stowe Mtn. Resort XC Center. After the Cabin, the 25K descends to the Trapp’s Touring Center before returning to the Stowe Mtn. Resort XC Center.

Details: Both courses leave the Stowe Mtn. Resort XC Center and head out along Timberlane to the end where it intersects with the Bruce. Make a left onto the Bruce and descend to the intersection of the Burt. From here, climb the Ranch Camp trail (connector) to the upper Old Camp trail. Make a right onto the Old Camp Trail and take it to the end where it intersects with the Haul Road. Make a right onto the Haul Road and follow this to the Trapp’s Cabin. From the Cabin, follow the Cabin trail down to the intersection of the Bobcat and Parizo’s. At this point, the 15K makes a left onto Bobcat and the 25K makes a right onto the one-way downhill Parizo. See 15K and 25K below.

15K: Follow Bobcat to THE END. MAKE A LEFT ONTO HAUL ROAD. CLIMB GRADUALLY UNTIL YOU REACH THE RANCH CAMP TRAIL. MAKE A RIGHT onto the Ranch Camp Trail and descend to the major intersection with the Burt Trail. Make a right onto the Burt trail. Follow the Burt to Crosscut #2. Make a left onto Crosscut #2. At the top of the hill, make a right onto Classic. At the end of Classic, make a left onto crosscut 1 and then a right onto Timberlane. Follow Timberlane back to the Stowe Mtn. Resort XC Center.

25K: Follow the Parizo down to County Road. Make a right onto County Road. At the end of County Road, make a left onto Russell Knoll. Follow Russell Knoll to Deer Pond. Take a right on Deer Pond and follow this to the Trapps Touring Center. From the Trapp’s Touring Center, follow Fox Track to the end and make a right onto Sugar Road. Follow Sugar Road to Picnic Knoll and then make a right onto the one-way up Parizo trail. Follow the Parizo Trail to County Road. Cross County Road and stay on the Parizo Trail to the intersection of the Cabin Trail, Parizo and Bobcat. From here, follow Bobcat and follow the 15K course directions.
